I need to be amongst my own kind

He then hands me a sheet of paper with some writing on it, saying that he found it online, and simply asks me to look it over and think about it for a little while, before heading off to class. I gave it a read and what I found was that I wasn't the least bit angry about this anymore but rather mesmerized by how anybody could really be this stupid. The sheet of paper contained a list of things that supposedly prove the existence of God. I will now type the exact contents of this list:

Okay, let's start picking this bullshit apart...

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

of billions of stars and planets in the many galaxies, only earth has life, and abundance of it?

What kind of crap is this? Have we EXPLORED every planet in the universe? Then how can anyone make a claim like this? This would be comparable to someone living on an island in the middle of the Pacific saying "Is it a coincidence that of all the land masses on the Earth, this is the only one that contains life?" when that person has never ventured off the island! What abject stupidity!

Quote: the sun is 400 times the size of the earth's moon, 400 times further away from earth than the moon, yet they look both proportionally the same size in our sky?

Yes, this is why the moon covers the sun during an eclipse. And this proves.....?

Quote: the sun lights the days nicely, while the moon glimmers in the night sweetly and the clouds bring forth rain to water our crops, which bring forth food in your stomach?

Sometimes the moon is out during the day and sometimes there is no moon at night. And, yes, the rain waters the crops which we eat. And your point is......?

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

birds in the air whistle sweet songs and dogs show unconditional love?

Birds sing to communicate territorial claims, warnings and to find a mate. Dogs show love to people who care for them, IF they have been trained right. How many people are killed or badly injured in dog attacks every year?

Quote: your body heals naturally when you cut yourself, or you become sick and it goes away?

How about when the body DOESN'T heal itself, or the sickness DOESN'T go away?

Quote: humans have intangible senses, called emotions where we feel love, hate, anger, sadness, happiness, shock, confused, hurt, healed, and so forth?

Yes, humans have emotions. And your point is....?

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

you were born from a lady's womb and you will die a death, without choice of either?

Yes, we are born and we die. So what?

Quote: the complexity of dna is so mind boggling, that scientists worldwide now have gone from 'no god' to claiming a "Divine Creator"? (read)

Pure crappola. Where are scientists claiming "divine creation" because of "DNA complexity"? Source?

Quote: your body's anatomy is complex, so fine and so articulate that you wonder how this "accident" came to be?

No, I don't wonder how my body "came to be". I KNOW how it came to be. It's a process called "evolution".

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

there are endless variety of delicious fruits, vegetables, nuts, wheats to make infinite delicious recipes to satisfy our hunger?

Gee, food exists! How about that? If it didn't, none of us would be here! Next...

Quote: there are thousands and thousands of exotic amazing land animals and thousands more amazing sea creatures?

Yes, the variety of life spawned by the evolutionary process is amazing...

Quote: you have eyes so you can see, ears so you can hear, heart so you can feel, mind so you can think?

Wow! We have eyes, ears and a brain! So do rats, vultures and crocodiles. Oh, and we do not "feel" with our heart. It pumps blood.

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

there are thousands of recovered artifacts proving the validity of Scripture, the Holy Bible itself?

those who have faith in Jesus Christ witness miracles, worldwide?

almost all Old Testament prophecies have been already fulfilled and more continue being fulfilled?

Min did a good job of shooting down this garbage.

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

a farmer plants the seeds, yet the farmer does not make the seed grow and the farmer never initially created the seed?

Gee, the farmer plants a seed and something grows! And seeds grow all the time without help from anybody! And, no, the farmer did not create the seed. So what?

Quote: that fruits and vegetables have seeds so that they produce more fruits and vegetables?

What utter idiocy! If plants didn't produce seeds they would cease to exist.

Quote: your body needs vitamins and nutrients found in GOD's natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, wheat?

Wow.... the things our bodies need to survive are found in foods. Imagine that....

Quote:Do you think its a coincidence that...

your calendar says that the current year is 2009? What happened 2009 years ago? (Apparently the list is a few years old)

What is this supposed to prove? The Common Era didn't actually begin until centuries after Jesus supposedly lived. This reference to the year fell into common usage and has been adopted across the globe for convenience. Some cultures use different years which vary widely.

This list is a steaming pile of manure that might impress a deluded believer, but if you examine it you'll realize there's no substance here whatsoever.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?
