To be honest mate, "bleeding heart liberal" is not the first phrase which comes to mind when I think of you. That would be "quite-nice-really--slightly-rabid-homophobe".

What a small world! I have a friend who is an economist too. He teaches at Trinity College, Cambridge.
Perhaps the most startling thing thing he said to me was: "The difference between a good economist and a bad economist is that a good economist will admit he doesn't know what he's talking about". I thought it was a rather facile thing to say. Then he told me he stole the saying from John Maynard Keynes.
