I don't believe you can even speak for all the catholics.
Bible is a prop, just like all the "holy" books. It's actual content is pretty much irrelevant. All christians cherry-pick and twist the text, in order to suit their needs and pre-conceived notions. And they would be doing so, even if you replaced the book in question with a Batman comic, a Dr. Seuss story, or a handkerchief with a rude word scribbled on it.
