I have an old all tube practice amp from the 60's. All hand-wired, not a single circuit board, celestion speaker, and was the guitar sound I had been looking for years. So lovely and warm. I used it instead of my Marshall JCM900. I've since spoken to the son of the owner of the company and he said that they reckon that Vox nicked their design for the AC-30 because one of Vox's founders used to work with them. Or at least it was inspired by their design.
It was just this old crappy looking amp in the shop window and I originally went in looking for a Fender Champ but wasn't very impressed with the sound. I came away with this amp at a fraction of a price and a Japanese Fender 62 reissue Strat with SRV hot rail pick ups which seemed to work brilliantly with it.
I wish I still had a reason to play the guitar.
