FL's median income is actually a function of the enormous disparity between the upper crust and the larger teeming masses who do not have gainful employment. Were it not for wealthy retirees and beach houses...it would be lower.
I have some experience in aerospace in FL, trouble we ran into..was that chronically under-educated waiters and desk clerks don't provide the necessary labor pool for high tech manufacturing. We did manage to make ends meet, by sourcing what we needed from the political refugee community, specifically, Laos and other SE Asian countries. Guess where that money goes, state tax or no? Now, the way Florida lured business there to begin with, was to cut them sweetheart deals on land and cover some of the labor, too. Not exactly filling the states coffers no matter how you look at it. Might explain why florida is ranked at 32 on the list of states recieiving federal assistance, with 1 being the lowest taken. 31% of FL state revenues are, in fact, federal welfare. Monies which they used to cut those sweetheart deals, of course.
Seems to me like you're suggesting that business flee to Florida to suck at the government tit while shirking higher taxes they might have to pay elsewhere, like it already does. That may be a good business decision, but it's clearly not helping the state or it's people. Quarter of the states children in poverty, and a measly 42k median in spite of an enormous coastline literally choked to death by multi-million dollar houses and their obscenely wealthy occupants. It aint tricklin down...and being from florida yourself..I'm sure you appreciate how strange it is when there isnt anything tricklin down.

Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
