I want your opinion on the following scenario.
Lets assume there was a completely disabled human being who needs major help through all daily activities.
This human being is under the following condition:
If you are an atheist, can you give me a reason (other than legal issues) of why this person should not be killed as to free more resources (money, time, hospital space, etc) for the rest of the community?
- He/she has no job whatsoever
- He/she has zero friends and zero family members
Why is it that people always want to know an "atheists" opinion on non-religious matters? How about just asking PEOPLE for their opinion since this doesn't seem to be a religious question.
A person who is, according to your term, "completely disabled", still has the right to life. There are plenty of programs out there in which the person could make friends. There are many agencies that offer companionship in addition to hospice or home care services.
Besides, you aren't telling the whole story here. What if that person was an American, worked 40 years, got in a terrible work related accident? Still having no friends or family, wouldn't matter given that it was an accident that happened at work, the company would be responsible for the injuries caused to their employee while at work. Perhaps the employee carried long and short term life insurance. In that instance, the "community resources" you claim would be used, aren't used at all. That is exactly what the life insurance will pay for.
There are far too many scenarios that you aren't giving us (ALL forum members, not just atheists), that no good answer will do.
