Resident Evil, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB and @Brianrrs37 on twitter)
I know what you are
I know where you hide
I know my species history
Of where you really reside
In our infancy
The world was scary
We had no clue
Of the nature of reality
We sought pattern
We sought purpose
Even though we know now
There never really was
So we made bad guesses
Thinking something above
Something that thought like us
Could provide us comfort and love
The first ones were earthy
Took form of that around us
From volcanos, deer and weather
Prayed they would favor thus
Then we started writing
And we settled down
Forming bigger and bigger cities
The gods took more human form
They began to look like us
It should be obvious
They never existed at all
We projected or desires, nothing more.
An ancient Greek once said
If horses had gods
The gods
Would look like horses
Above your shoulders
Below you hair
Between your ears
Is where God lives.
Quite easy to kill
If you're brave
If you're willing
To think for yourself
I know what you are
I know where you hide
I know my species history
Of where you really reside
