They didn't know anything. People are desperate to retrofit knowledge gained though actual science to primitive texts.
But let's say they did know something which would have been hard for them to know. So what? That doesn't get us any closer to how they knew it. Unless we find a way to investigate, it would be a mystery. Defaulting to "it was god" is not valid. It doesn't even matter if the person says it came from God. It doesn't mean it did. I don't have to provide another explanation to point out "it was god" has no credible evidence to support it.
And it doesn't prove the truth of the rest of the book at all. Especially since it is full of factually inaccurate nonsense.
