I'll point out again that every sceptic is usually an atheist, but not every atheist is a sceptic.
It so happens most of us atheists here are sceptics. But there are atheists who believe in all kinds of other ridiculous stuff. They've fallen into mental traps, just different ones. Or perhaps they need the comfort from it. Who can say.
So any particular atheist could have come to their position in any number of ways.
But for sceptics, it's simple. So simple. We don't belief in unsubstantiated claims. "God" is one of those claims, if you can even call it a claim. I know "God" is very much real to a lot of people. There are plenty of good psychological explanations for that, not least of which are indoctrination and immersion in a culture of mythology.
