We often hear this cultural argument when issues of misogynistic behaviour is carried out to try and separate it from Islam. I don't buy it to be honest, the religion is the catalyst (in this case Islam). I find it hard to imagine this type of repulsive shit evolving on its own without the impetus of a fundamental religious backing.
