I've got a two-foot circle around that I don't like infringed. If I step backwards, that's your clue that you're too close. Please don't follow me, and if you do please don't be offended at my request for personal space.

I don't like people touching me without my permission, either.

That's a pretty big personal space.  For me it depends on the situation.  There's a situation in work where people have to come to me at the end of their shift so I can check what items they have on them. One guy steps a few inches from my face when he approaches me and I just stand still.

I used to step back but now I just think, ok fuck you, let's play the weird game of being inches away from each others face while I check what you have.

I like to have an arms length if possible. If you can reach out and touch me you're probably too close for my comfort. If we have to be close enough for you to be able reach out and touch me, don't.

@Thump, omg I seriously hate the followers. If someone backs away, why the hell would you follow? So frustrating.
