Well, will a Chinese carrier effect the balance of power in the region? In 5 years when they learn to use it, maybe. Will it be favorable to the Chinese and unfavorable to the US, probably. But so what? With the second largest economy in the world, the most solvent government finances in the world, growing at 5 times our rate, that will surpass ours in less time than it takes to order a new carrier today, build it, test it, and train the crew until it is properly efficient, the Chinese are still concentrate on just improving the balance of power in their own back yard, an area the size of gulf of mexico, while at peace.
We, with one of the less solvent economies in the world, stagnant, under invested, being rapidly overtaken by China, are trying protect the balance of power everywhere in the world, while fighting 3 wars.
See the problem?
American can not sustain 50% of the world's military budget on 25% of the world's economy. yet we are finding every excuse to keep our 50%, or drive it even higher, while the Chinese chip away our 25% while rapidly driving their own pass 25%.
