I doubt this will help - especially that I'm guessing you've had me on ignore for months - but I don't think you're a horrible person. Or a horrible mother. It's just that... Goddamit, how do you have internet in the 1950's?

Here's an idea - do the circumcision thing, but not immediately - give it a few weeks. The kid will still be too young to remember anything, but you and your husband will have developed an emotional bond with him, rather than with the naive idea of him you have now. There's a reason most male circumcisions - religious or otherwise, are performed shortly after birth.
If at this point you're still able to go through with mutilating your child's penis - oh, well - do whatever you want, Eva Braun - I guess the kid's f*cked either way...
