Poca, I agree that in the scheme of things it's small indeed. But I also think she's right that we each should be exemplifying our values in the sphere we inhabit. None of can force society to comport with our values, but we can promulgate them in those places we do control. And I think it's an aspect of the discussion that got overlooked in the rush to go and take a swipe at her.
Honestly, I found the intransigence over such a small issue a bummer.

I return courtesy for courtesy, and rudeness for rudeness. If that makes me "self-important" in your eyes, I really can't be bothered to care. If you want civil conversation, I'm happy to give it even in disagreement. If you want conversation at the level of "fuck you too", you'll need to look elsewhere.
