The problem with Won2blv's hypothesis is that it doesn't look at the context behind why the abrahamic faiths had a serious case of the not gays.
The fact of the matter is the tribe which eventually became the jews was small and weak, being conquered a lot, and never having a large population. The strictures against gay sex were in all likelihood an attempt to control population numbers by ensuring every man had loqds of children in order to try and increase the tribe's power. Powerful countries in the region, by and large, didn't have the same strictures on gay sex.
