Hillary is a liberal. Bernie pulled her far enough left that I am confident that she will nominate SCOTUS justices that will advance a liberal agenda. That, to me, is what this whole election boils down to. Jill Stein has no chance at being the next president. If she did, I'd vote for her. But Donald Trump getting into the white house and appointing people who will roll back women's reproductive rights, gay/trans rights, will not support justice department reform, and will intentionally blur the line between church and state by upholding all of these RFRA laws that are being challenged would be an unmitigated disaster for a generation or two. On top of the unmitigated economic disaster that Trump himself represents.
So by all means, do your civic duty. You've clearly bought into the 8 years of grime that Hillary has had applied to her. I certainly have. I was excited about HRC in '08. I am not happy about her now. But my dislike of one person doesn't mean I want to fuck it up for all of the people that depend on progressive social change moving forward. I care more for the gay community and the black community and women's reproductive rights than I dislike HRC.
SCOTUS is not important to me, it's a corrupt bourgeois body which has protected the privileged and oppressed the masses for generations. Hillary is not a liberal, she is a neoliberal, just like Gary Johnson or Tony Blair. Jill Stein has no chance, fine. Hillary Clinton will nominate people who will be pro-black, pro-gay? What world do you live in? She and her husband are the cause of the oppression black people are facing today, her racist campaign against welfare, and her criminal 'reforms' are what dug the grave of the black working class in this country. As for gay rights, she has opposed gay rights for decades, before she 'evolved' on the issue. Frankly, Donald Trump is more pro-gay than Hillary Clinton is. Clintonite Neoliberalism is what wrecked the economy in 2008. Donald Trump's economics are certainly nonsensical, but it's Clinton's fault that this right-wing populism has any traction in the first place. Her economic policies have destroyed my generations' future and the working class, sending all of the jobs to China, Vietnam, et al. and centralizing economic power into the hands of Bill Gates and George Soros.
If by progress, you mean a future economic meltdown, the destruction of the middle and working class in this country, civil unrest and the rise of right-wing populism, perhaps even worse than Donald Trump, then by all means support Hillary Clinton.
I cannot support someone who sold my generation to Walmart, sold all of our productive jobs to China, sold Syria to Google and al-Jazeera, and sold the cumulative income of the working class in this country to Bill Gates and George Soros.
