If the coup fails, it seems likely Endogan would seize the opportunity to violently purge any kamalist element from the military and significant positions in civil society, and scapegoat all social ills on anti-Islamist fractions in more civilized and developed parts of the country, in something like the aftermath of the Iranian revolution in 1979. Unless another much more violent and successful coup is immediately relaunched to overthrow Endogan before that happens, I think failure of this coup would mark the beginning of tha very rapid process of conversion of turkey into a semi-autocratic, semi-theocratic failed state.
This would probably mark the single most devastating defeat of secular modern influence in the modern world.
