My question to you tonight is, do you automatically think someone is creepy when they say they are a Christian, or is it just when they try to convert you? I myself am massively creeped out by the Bible Network and several real-life Christians I've met. I believe I mentioned earlier that it triggers my fight-or-flight reflex.
Follow up question, how would you react to someone "telling you about the Gospel" in a nice way? Is it always offensive/enraging/however it makes you feel? I know a lot of churches have Evangelism classes, but one of my favorite professors says they "teach people how to be socially inappropriate." What if someone took the time to get to know you, then tried to subtly bring up the Gospel a lot? More or less creepy?
This is really interesting for me, it usually produces good stories. I know I have a couple. Thanks in advance for replying!
I would have to admit that most of the time when christians try to "share the good news with me" I start to cringe and worry if the man is going to start getting loud at me if I tell him Im not interested. If my kids are with me I pull them closer to me, especially if they are talking about sacrifices, life after death, demons and devils, rising from the dead, etc.. It is very unnerving for my children because I have raised them to accept reality for what it is and when they see a full grown adult rambling on about "Jesus ascended to heaven in the clouds in glory to sit at the right hand of god"..well, my kids get nervous and creeped out.
So I would say that it really depends on what the christian says. If they say what I wrote about above, then hell yeah they are creepy and some even make me get into a defensive posture for fear of being attacked.
If a christian just comes up and says, as a quick example, something like; "I dont like porn, Im christian." Then I am cool with that. Hell I would be friendly and even cut some jokes with the man... I would say something like "Whats the point of having internet access then?". If a christian has a good sense of humor, then he/she is alright by me. I have met a few christians who are great talkers, and I didnt mind having a religious conversation with them and didnt feel creeped or defensive.
But on scale..the majority of christians either creep me out or piss me off or make me struggle not to laugh in their faces with some of the weird and stupid shit they say.
