How to be happy

I'm finding it increasingly good to try and focus on what you've already got that gives you joy... and discard whatever doesn't... rather than striving for the future or clinging to the past. I'm doing this 'KonMari' method of tidying at the moment and it's very liberating. And for instance I found during my sort-out of papers, a folder full of video game tips from various magazines from when I was a kid. That was quite a joy to come across and it felt like a bit of a treasure trove but it's hard to part with... so I went through each page, one at a time, and just looked to see if it 'sparked joy' and that helped me to realise that actually only a few of those pages do, and not even for the tips but just things like magazine logos from years gone past... Mean Machines Sega and Console XS... or even adverts and competitions etc... things that I probably didn't even notice at the time or care about. So that allowed me to declutter most of the collection and what I'm keeping I'm intending to just cut out and make a collage of those joy-sparking images... why not bring all that joy together in one place and discard the rest? The rest had its time and place... in the past... so all those tips may be gone but they're not part of me, going forward, anymore.
