I'm a vet. I believe gold star families should be off limits to political insult from any side. If they want to come forward to speak on a political issue, that's fine. What they say can be criticized. But on a personal level, they should get a pass from being blasted by politicians in public.

I'm not saying this is a rational position, it is almost entirely based on my feelings and the reason part is hard to articulate. It provokes an instant gut reaction in me. I think a lot of vets feel the same way.

I feel you, brotha. It's not something amenable to logcial discourse, is it? It just stirs my disgust and contempt, and at that point my forebrain does not have as much voice in my outlook.
