You can't compare the Israel of 1948, 1967 or 1973 to how Israel presents itself today. Courtesy of it's extreme rightwing coalition. Apart from 1956 when even the USA took a stance against Israel, the country was only defending itself. Now that is up for debate. In previous decades it wasn't.
I compared them in more ways than one. I also said that ISIS is absolutely monstrous in comparison. I just also disagree with the premise behind setting up the Israeli state and our consistent defense of them over the years as a given. I don't think the two are all alike, even if I dislike both of them for entirely different reasons. I'm not about to worry about Israel putting my head on a spike, for instance.
