So? Is there a problem with being 12?

No it's just that I can't just ask her to the movies. I can't go alone outside. I come from a Muslim family. Body shamers, racists etc.

Then it's a problem with religion and family, not just age (sorry I spaced on the muslim thing).

Then, I'd try something at school. Sit with her/her group at lunch, walk with her in the halls, sit with her in study hall, do something before/after school, find out what she likes and get it for her.

Maybe school has changed enough that I'm talking out of my ass.
