A completely biological reason why living thing "want" to survive is because most the things that will kill them, hurt....a lot. DNA wants the vessel to not self-destruct long enough to pass structure/function/order forwards through time as procreation.
Life also *creates* order. Beehives, beaver dams, automobiles, all examples of life creating order.
Order to whom? I think you got me on beehives, but beaver dams are a hodgepodge pile of the bones and chewed off limbs of innocent trees. Automobiles here mean strip mines and polluting factories over there. What "order" do we add to the earth?
Our current form of consumer civilization is causing the 6th mass extinction of earths biodiversity. "We" are creating disorder with reckless abandon and almost zero foresight.
