The bolded part would be the payoff. The 'reward' for romance would be intrinsic: the romance itself.
Some people, such as myself, enjoy holding hands and deep personal conversations (especially the deep personal conversations in my case)... you're describing it from a purely aromantic perspective and as a highly romantic and sentimental person, I can't personally relate.
Fair enough if you're saying "What would be the point?" meaning what would be the point for you... but for some folks such as myself-- the romance is its own reward.
I have love for many people in my heart. But for me, romance is ultimately about two people sharing a life together. It's the 'in' in "in love".
