He obviously doesn't have much of a life. Spending years dwelling on and predicting the end.

Well, as I see it. He's 89, so yes the world is going to end soon......but from his eyes only.
But no afterlife, just endless oblivion. Which is something we all will face, no matter what belief we poses.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
