You're right that some forms of Anglicanism look very much like Catholicism both in terms of belief and practice - they tend to be called "Anglo-Catholic". My church is the other end of the spectrum - low church (so very little "ritual" or liturgy) and pretty inclusive in terms of the range of views that people hold. We prefer inordinate amounts of tea, coffee and cake rather than sherry at my church, but of course we have our fair share of pillocks like any random group of people. :p
C of E? (Catholicism lite) I guess if you MUST be a Christian, probably just about the most harmless flavour. Its members seem to be mainly pillocks of the establishment and little old ladies of both sexes who drink an ordinate amount of sherry and sing ghastly songs. The great thing about Anglicanism is that if you become an atheist ,nobody will notice.
