I'd rather see the moderator control shock collars on the candidates. He/she can use the button every time a fact checker calls BS into his earpiece.
Then again, watching two senior citizens flailing around on the ground in seizures might not be the image of the American political system we want to convey to the rest of the world. But it would make for fun TV.
As for Trump's performance, he pretty much confirmed what I already suspected: he has the discipline and attention span of a child. For days and days, every talking head said the same thing. "Trump needs to prove to the public that he has the gravitas to be 'Presidential'". Shit, nothing about substance and actual nuts-and-bolts policy proposals. Just look the part and he "wins" the debate.
All he had to do was to keep it together for ninety minutes, but he only made it about twenty minutes before he began mugging and making faces, getting sidetracked at every turn to defend his ego and brand, and lie again and again. It was pathetic, in a delicious kind of way.
