I've since learned to write my own fortune.
A very pessimistic friend of mine we nicknamed the "Angel of Death" opened a fortune cookie and it said: "You will inherit a great fortune". He said "Oh great, someone I love is going to die!"
Hah! But even if it was from the lottery, massive piles of sudden money tend to be bad fortune for the recipient.
