I think staying there to try and make changes would be impossible without broad support and support from the military. I would try to find a way to get myself and my family out of there. Maybe try to effect change in that country some other way at a safe distance.

What the hell are you talking about? Where did I say he needed the military to make changes in his family? My point was, given the nature of his country, it would be impossible to make revolutionary changes there without broad support its citizens and support from its military joining in. I suggested that he should find a way to get himself and his family out of that country and try to effect change there at a safe distance.
