If you want to go deeper into Dante, I recommend some books I personally enjoy, such as "Understanding Dante" by Jhon Scott, and "Reading Dante" by Giuseppe Mazzota. Bear in mind, though, that these are academic books which will only be enjoyed if you really like Dante.
Everything Dante wrote in the Comedy was thought carefully by him. He did not let his personal anger into the Comedy. You could even say there are 3 Dantes: 1. The real Dante, who actually desired revenge towards his enemies 2. Dante the pilgrim who is guided by Vergil in the Comedy, and 3. Dante the narrator of the Comedy.
