There is this Dutch saying which translates to "2 religions on one pillow, there sleeps the devil in between" (though in Dutch it rimes "Twee geloven op een kussen, daar slaapt de duivel tussen"). It portrays very well how some people think about marriages with 2 different religions/faiths or one that is without religion at all. The saying stems from a time where you only had 2 religions in our country anyway, Roman Catholic and Lutheran Protestant.
I find it very peculiar how this came about, its like saying that a vegetarian and a omnivore can't ever be married because of their different eating choices.
