Buying a car on credit has never occurred to me so far, but I imagine it could be justified if you need one right now for practical reasons and have a realistic plan how to pay for it over the course of not too many years. I would never pay it with a credit card though, but use a reputable manufacturer's financing plan with monthly installments - that way, it is very transparent how hard paying for it will hit you over the next, say, 24 months. Unless you lose your job, that's a pretty safe way to do it.
