Years ago, I had a friend whose salon I would frequent for my haircuts. Occasionally, she would be booked when I needed to come in and I would get shuffled off to one of the ladies who rented space there. One of them was a complete nightmare. She was clearly on meth every time I sat in her chair. Having her wield scissors anywhere near my head/neck was fucking terrifying. After a couple of these ordeals, I complained to my friend. Apparently, she decided that keeping customers (living, non-litigious customers) was more important than filling that space. I never saw Speedy-Edie-Scissorhands again.
That's some scary shit. Your friend could have lost her own license if that woman had seriously injured someone. Knowingly employing someone or allowing a visibly intoxicated person (whether on drugs or alcohol) to perform services on a client is grounds not only for a fine, but the salon can lose their license and the owner can as well. Not a risk worth taking.
