I absolutely hate that food manufacturers do this. Instead of raising the price, they reduce the amount of product and sell it for the same price.
One of my hobbies is making wine, and I often make it from off-the-shelf grape juice purchased at any supermarket. Used to be you could get a gallon jug for $X, now they sell 3 quart jugs. When I buy juice to make wine, I buy five gallons at a time for one batch. So now instead of buying 5 jugs, I have to buy 6 jugs and a couple of quart bottles.
I'd likely be more apt to pay a little more for a full gallon, but the sneaky food companies are hoping you don't notice you're only getting 3 quarts instead of the full gallon for the same price.
