Whatevs, I think what he meant by the first quote you posted is that we should try to find common ground to work together for a better world despite our differences.

And herein lies the first problem. There are people who view a better world as a world without the others, whatever the others may mean. You can't build bridges with people who define themselves over exclusivness. You can only surrender to them, if you aren't among the undesirables, that is. In that case, they want to see you removed from their little bubble.
