I was reimbursed by the defense contractor I worked for use of my car (after they got rid of our departments car) at the standard government rate at the time.
It was very easy for me to demonstrate to my boss that the rate was significantly less than my actuals for driving my car. Of course, I didn't point out to her I was also on the clock while driving my car, and once out of the building wasn't exactly setting land speed records in getting to the other company facility, LOL, but then, she never asked either.
But that analysis for Uber makes sense. Advertising to riders how cheap it is, and then advertising to drivers how lucrative working for them is implies it's one of those 'down hill both ways' things, and that usually isn't true. Especially with Uber making 30% off the top . . .
