It's unusual, to say the least, to release a movie for a one-hour, one-day time-slot. The producers may be afraid that they are going to lose money:

They probably negotiated a sweet deal with Carmike, as Thursdays are the transition slot for when theaters are going to swap movies for the weekend showings. Up until that exact time, no one is completely sure what is going to be shown on the weekend and the following week, leaving Thursday nights as being the cheapest slot.
