Well Cinjin, one way to look at it is your father's attitude in prioritizing a fable over his child is substantial reason to be an atheist.

You'll never change his mind, when he believes his soul depends on cleaving to the hope his sacrifices are worth it in the end when he'll be rewarded after he's dead. And the strange thing is, funny really, that when that day comes if he still possessed human faculties, he'd be surprised how wrong he was. While now, he's clueless as to how much he's lost.
