They put in the AV fistula yesterday for future dialysis use. It hurts so goddamn bad. They gave me Hydrocone-acetaminophen and it hasn't done shit for me at the "proper" dose. I've never had opioids but my past doesn't really make me confident in my ability to ration these things... especially because I'm really hurting. Though I'm paranoid about asking my doc for something else.
I hear you. I don't know what your pain is like right now, but I know when AVN attacked my hip sending me into chronic, deep pain, the VA offered me opioids, and I refused. Even as an active alcoholic, I had the sense that that was no alley I wanted to walk. I take prescription-strength naproxen, which never quells the pain, only takes the edge off, but fortunately I'm able to live a relatively normal life.
I assume you've discussed your addiction issues with your doc?
