The ability of the uneducated to become convinced that something which one does not know nevertheless makes once very special in the grand scheme of all things is the reason why rabble rousing in all its most disgusting forms, including religion and patroitism, works.

There has always been a bigger market for self-asteem through ignorance than there is for capacity to acquire knowledge.

Granted, self-esteem through ignorance is free and easily acquired, thus your statement is accurate.

However, the generalization of rabble rousing being labeled as a disgusting thing may be a tad unfair to the term. One could easily argue that rabble rousing is not only a good thing, but a necessity in respect to acquiring rights for the masses, overthrowing corrupt governments and/or establishing one's own independence.
