Hmm, so browsers do not like it when an HTTPS site uses "mixed content", i.e. an HTTPS page contains resources (e.g. images) over HTTP.
To avoid this problem I installed a plugin which sends all HTTP images via an image proxy service, which works over HTTPS. However it seems the service doesn't handle gifs very well. I'll look into alternatives, however in the mean time I would suggest using https://imgur.com to host images.
