Animated gif avatars.
I uploaded gif files twice today that are normally animated but after upload they are not moving.

It worked for me :S

Are you sure it's not a browser issue? I've changed my avatar to a gif of a spinning dollar bill. If it isn't spinning for you, then it's probably a browser issue; if it is, then I have no idea. My avatars work in Firefox and Chrome.

The dollar spins just fine.

I can see gifs moving just fine, but when I upload them they don't. unless you see my avatar move right now.

I can't see how it can be a problem with the server. I uploaded my animated gif avatar the same way, and it works fine. Can you try downloading my avatar, and then uploading it as yours as a test?

Could it be that the resize of the avatar strips the animation?

I just uploaded the same gif to Rationalia and there it worked fine, including animation.

Ah, yes that would be it. You'd need to resize the avatar first whilst preserving the animation.

Could be, my avatar often doesn't animate on some sites where it gets resized.
