What are the pre-conditions that are neccessary for a free press to function so that investigative journalism can do its job?
They must have freedom to investigate and have access to information, they should not be condemned or oppressed for reporting the truth.
They must not be manipulated by polititians.
The agencies involved should not all be owned by a few individuals with agendas.
They must give more facts than opinions and when they do give opinions they should state out right that what they are saying is biased and not "balanced and fair".
Basically Trump and his cronies are trying to destroy the free press so they can carry out their horrible agendas.
Okay. I get what you're saying. But in this thread I'm not interested in talking about Trump or anybody in any kind of political function, whosoever. I'm intersted in finding out what needs to be the case so that there is a free press in which investigative journalism can function.
Let me, again, re-phrase my question:
What is needed and neccessary (pre-conditions) to have a free press in which investigative journalism can function as such?

Why would you need to "trust" me in order to talk about what investigative journalism is and what the pre-conditions are in which it can properly function?
Doesn't make sense to me.
That's just the kind of thing a dishonest journalist would say.
I'm not a journalist. So how can I even be a "dishonest" journalist? Please elaborate.
