I had a similar situation, I was working at a gas station in between high school and when my enlistment started, and the island till - which was shared across shifts - came up short on a regular basis. I have to wonder if the guy who was doing it kept it up after I left. Continuing would have made it pretty fucking obvious that he was the thief.
