Brian, we are honored to be his servants, God gains nothing from us being his servants. We gain benefit from glorifying and praising God, he doesn't gain anything. When God creates, he does so to unlock our full potential, which each creation is the ultimate path. The ultimate path all Prophets were eventually guided to it, and Mohammad never swerved from it and was always that.
Part of the design for us to unlock our potential and honor us, is to be helpers of God and seek God's help and the help of his helpers in helping God and his Guardian.
To him ascends the good word (faith/testification) and the righteous action lifts, and all honor belongs to God and is his light given from him.
To love God is simply to know him if you truly know and testify to who he is, then everything that disconnects from him will be cut off, and everything that connects us to him, will be held on to.
