I remember a Quantum Leap episode titled "star-crossed". In it, a young man likes a female student but isn't sure how to effectively communicate that to her. As a result, Sam advises him to treat her like a person and to focus on what's in her mind and what makes her who she is (rather than seeing her as a piece of meat), so that he can possibly make a connection with her.
With that said, on those occasions where a woman does show interest in me (observable behaviors that would suggest interest), I remind myself that the manner in which I engage that person is what will set me apart and help me be unique in my own way.
