Without social consequences, people are more free to be themselves. This is both good and bad depending on who you are dealing with.

Agreed. People's true colors often come out when they are anonymous and/or when they don't have to confront the people they are addressing face to face.

That does make sense, but depending on the person, the opposite it also true...

I find myself quite boring in real life ...I come here to let my alter ego loose for a while...
In a nice way of course to have some fun with the nice people here...

Anyone can be an armchair hero, so like most here, we just have a little fun with the trolls ...
