Those were probably Jelly Belly jelly beans.
They're the same guys that make the Bertie Bott's and Bean Boozled jelly beans.
It doesn't ring a bell or look familiar from that site... I'd recognise it I think if I heard/saw it again. But thanks for the suggestion anyway and for the link... that site apparently has international outlets, so that might be a way for me to get my hands on some American sweets... so yeah, thanks for that
