James Casbolt likes to describe himself as a “supersoldier”, “a mind control victim” and “a former MI6 officer” but in reality he is simply nothing other than an outlandish crook and fantasist. Born in 1978 and from St Ives, Cornwall (though he has ridiculously claimed to have been brought up in a secret underground facility in Canada with 41 other children), Casbolt met the American heiress to the Meijer hypermarket chain, Haley Meijer, online. The couple married in 2009 and had a son but when their relationship went wrong, Casbolt posted nude pictures of his wife on the Internet and demanded £2 million from her family to remove them. Described by a judge as an “extremely dangerous and evil man”, the world became a safer place after James Casbolt – who once stated he could never be arrested as he “has diplomatic immunity” – was jailed for 12 years* in July 2015.
