The sad truth, to me, is that left-wing rioters have too many prominent and vocal apologists in the media and mostly tacit approval of academia. I don't think riots ever broke out at any Tea Party rallies; although I could be wrong.
Could you name some vocal apologists in the media? Most I've ever seen are supporting their right to protest (free speech), while condemning violence.
